What else would you expect to find near downtown Strawberry Point, Iowa, but a huge strawberry. I painted this view of the enormous berry because 1) it’s iconic, and 2) it’s a good memory for me. My kids and I would often pass through Strawberry Point on the way to our annual canoe trip in Northeast Iowa. Strawberry Point is not far from the “Backbone”, one of Iowa’s most scenic state parks and a fun place to go hiking. I don’t remember much else about this town, but this huge strawberry is enough to make me want to drive through Strawberry Point to get to wherever I’m going.
