“This is My Beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased” (Matthew 3:17)
After Jesus was baptized, God spoke. We don’t often hear God’s voice, so we should pay attention.
First, He expressed love for Jesus. Then, He says He is well-pleased with Him. He could have just said, “This is the One!” or, “Here is the Messiah!” But He did more than that.
He affirmed His love for Jesus, and publicly proclaimed He was pleased with Him. The spoken affirmation of God for His Son shows that even Jesus needed affirmation.
If it was OK for Jesus to receive it, it’s OK for me to need it. And it’s imperative that I give it.
